Gayl Adams

Gayl Adams

Gayl Adams is our secondary English teacher. Her Education degree is from Angelo State University, and she has just recently moved back to San Angelo and is looking forward to becoming involved in our community. She enjoys playing and watching sports, reading a good book, and cooking fun and healthy meals whenever she has time.

Gayl strives to be a firm, fair, and consistent teacher in the classroom and is thankful that God led her to Cornerstone. Here she agrees that God's word is the foundation on which all learning is based, and she believes that God is a good God and that He has a dream for our lives.

She continues to be involved with church youth, women's ministry, and small groups; and she always holds Matthew 6:33 close to her heart: "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."

She and her family attend PaulAnn Baptist Church, and they have been involved with Cornerstone for over ten years.

Kathy feels her prayers were answered when He opened the door for her to teach at Cornerstone, and she acknowledges Proverbs 3:5-6 and Jeremiah 29:11 as reminders that God has awesome plans for our lives and He desires us to trust in Him as He leads us.

Lora Bird

Lora Bird

Our Athletic Director at Cornerstone is Lora Bird. She grew up in Wilson, Texas and graduated from Angelo State University. She and her husband, James (who is a Cornerstone School Board member), give countless service hours to our school; and their children, Loren, Jacob, and Noah, are very active in their respective grades.

Lora's favorite hobby is sports (good thing she's our Athletic Director!), and she is also very involved at PaulAnn Baptist Church where she leads a Bible Study group each week. Coach Bird says she loves people and is thankful to be associated with Cornerstone where she is comforted by the atmosphere of Christian principles.

She says we can never stop learning, and she is inspired by Philippians 4:13, "I can do everything through him who gives me strength."

Kryste Boydstun

Kryste Boydstun

Kryste Boydstun is our 5th grade teacher. She has a degree in Interior Design from Texas Tech University and was also in the music program at Howard Payne University in Vocal Performance & Art. Kryste and her family are members of PaulAnn Baptist Church, and together they share their love of music by volunteering with Harmonious Connections Outreach Music Ministry to Seniors. She loves working at Cornerstone because she has the freedom to relate all learning experiences to the standard set forth in the Bible, by the direction of the Holy Spirit.

Kryste and her husband, Jayson, feel strongly that a Christian foundation is crucial for their kids' development, and they are so thankful that all three of their children attend Cornerstone. Kryste strives to cultivate excellence in her students through a structured and nurturing environment, and she hopes to inspire them to discover, with wonder, their God-given purpose in life.

Kryste is humbled by 2 Corinthians 3:18, "And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with the ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit."

Jocabed Flores

Jocabed Flores

Jocabed Flores is in her third year of teaching 2nd grade at Cornerstone. She is a graduate from Southwestern Assemblies of God University with a degree in Education. Originally from El Paso, Jocabed and her family have now lived in San Angelo for 16 years where her husband, Isreal, is the pastor at Bethel Assembly of God. Together with their three children, Jocabed & Isreal enjoy serving others throughout the community.

Jocabed is led by Proverbs 3:5-8, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes, fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones."

At Cornerstone, she sees that the students are encouraged to live their lives with God at its center, and she teaches them to think with the mind of Christ and behave in a godly manner that will bring glory to His name.

Greg Gillis

Greg Gillis

Greg Gillis teaches our secondary History classes. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from Angelo State University and over thirty years of experience teaching in the public school system. In addition to teaching, Greg is highly involved in youth ministry at Big Lake Bethel, and he was part of the church planting team for Brentwood Family Fellowship in San Angelo.

With any free time, Greg plays golf and watches college sports, but on top of his list is spending time with his wife, Jackie, and their two sons, Robert & Joseph.

Greg feels very strongly that God brought him to Cornerstone, and he teaches with the philosophy that all students deserve the unbridled opportunity to learn and to exceed in their studies.

He follows I Peter 5:6, "Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time," and he controls his classroom with tough love and high expectations for respect and obedience.

Additionally, she has her Master's Degree in Counseling and Human Development and her teaching certifications in Special Education, Generalist Education, and Guidance Counseling.

Jan Harkleroad

Jan Harkleroad

Jan Harkleroad teaches high school Geography and History. She is a graduate of Texas Tech University and enjoyed over thirty years of teaching before retiring. Did we say retired? Actually, she couldn't wait to get back in the classroom, and now Jan enjoys being at Cornerstone part time. She says the "faculty family" at Cornerstone provides a warm and loving atmosphere, and she is honored to be a part of teaching our students the Christian values that God has set as standards for us.

Jan strives to love these students as God loves us, and says that from there teaching and learning will follow. Jan's very favorite thing is spending time with her three precious grandchildren in sports, church, and at school. She enjoys the theatre, the symphony, and the museum; and she is a very active member of Sierra Vista United Methodist Church.

Jan says she has learned over the years just how important prayer is, and she clings to Psalm 116:2, "Because He bends down and listens, I will pray as long as I have breath."

She was born and raised in Hannibal, MO and her degree is in Kinesiology from Angelo State University. She and her husband, Brad, have three beautiful girls and together they attend Southland Baptist Church.

She is very involved with her family's activities, and she enjoys teaching fitness and taking photographs. On the side, Meredith has started a small photography business, and she says the best part of that is capturing God's wonderful creations. Meredith feels blessed that God has placed her at Cornerstone and she truly cherishes her time here.

She places great value in the lessons taught through I Thessalonians 5:16-18, "Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."

She has continued her career at Cornerstone because of the "family atmosphere", and she is encouraged to work diligently to unlock each students' potential.

Lillian Hernandez

Our Cornerstone Choir Director is Lillian Hernandez. She also teaches 9th grade Bible. Her educational background includes Del Mar College, Corpus Christi State University, Angelo State University, and Liberty University where music has always been an active part of her life. Lillian feels God's calling on her life here at Cornerstone and wants to provide current content to her students within the framework of God's Word and character development. She hopes to teach her students to interpret life and culture correctly so they are able to make God-honoring decisions.

Lillian and her husband, Jehu, have four children who have all attended Cornerstone; three have graduated and the youngest is a senior this year. Lillian says she wants to let God work in her and through her, and she is guided by Phillipians 2:3 "Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself."

Karen Holden

Karen Holden has been at Cornerstone for 25 years and is currently our school Librarian. Her degree is in Education with a specialty in Early Childhood Development for Handicapped Children. She also has a supporting concentration in business and works diligently to keep our libraries organized and up to date.

Her love of Cornerstone and Christian Education is obvious as she allows Daniel 3:17-18 to guide her. The story of the Hebrew children reminds Karen that we may not always understand God's timing and His plan, but we are blessed by our faith and trust in Him.

Karen loves spending time with her son and her four grandsons, and she cherishes the memory of her other son. She is member of the Church of Pentecost, and she enjoys antiques, history, and all animals… especially dogs.
